Great value with spacious rooms in an old-fashioned courtyard motel.
Pros: Great value. The buildings were freshly painted. And new lighting allows you to actually read in the room. This is an old -fashioned motel -- not fancy -- but perfect for our needs. We've stayed here many times before. Also, the staff are nice. Rooms include a small refrigerator.
Cons: Towels could be bigger and thicker.

Pros: This little motel is a throwback to the 1950s, with about a dozen rooms and a nicely planted garden. It's not fancy at all, but it's clean and the rooms are spacious. It appears to be family run (though I'm not sure), but the people who staff the front desk are friendly and helpful. We've stayed here many times because it's close to family and it's not expensive for a multiple-night stay. This place could be spruced up into a true 1950s gem (the great old neon sign apparently blew down a year or two ago, for instance), but then the cost would go up. So take it as it is and imagine yourself on Route 66 in the days when it was the fastest road to Chicago. This isn't a Hyatt or even a Best Western, but it's a fine place to sleep.
Cons: The toilet ran continuously. We reported this, and hopefully this plumbing problem will be addressed for future guests. Probably 75-year-old plumbing.

Nothing fancy, but clean, convenient, and friendly
Pros: The Palm Tropics is where I stay when visiting Glendora, CA. Its a classic Route 66 motel, not fancy, but clean and convenient, and I've always found the staff friendly. Historic downtown is a reasonable walk away through nice neighborhoods -- the entirety of the town and the San Gabriel Valley is easily accessible by car. The Hat, with excellent sandwiches, is right next door.
